The Sri Lankan Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has taken an interesting and MUCH needed step.. finally! - In the next two weeks unlicensed phone repair and sales shops will be raided and necessary legal action taken against them according to Anusha Pelpita, Director General of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission.
Thinking of the number of times my family, friends and I have been tricked by such phony vendors I can only applaud this decision. There are so many shops like that out there stealing innocent Sri Lankans of their hard earned money.
To be fair to the shop owners, public notices have been published during the past few weeks warning these unlicensed vendors to get the necessary legal documents. Therefore when vendors without the necessary licenses to legally import and repair phones and related electrical goods will be raided with the assistance of the police, it will not come as a total and complete shock!
